Birth Network Events


Bellies, Birth & Babies Summer Expo
Tuesday July 15, 2008 7-9pm
Join us for the Summer Expo at Simpkins Family Swim Center Community Room (979 17th Ave).
The evening is packed with positive energy and valuable resources for pregnant and postpartum women and their families. We will be showing the DVD “It’s My Baby, My Body, My Birth.”

This event is always free to the public, (donations welcome).
Be sure to tell any pregnant friends or clients about the Summer Expo, the Fall Expo won’t be here until October.

Support Group for moms with bipolar disorder
First Thursday of each month 6-7pm
Free- new ! Support Group for moms (of children of all ages!) with Bipolar Disorder in Santa Cruz County

We welcome you to join in this regular, confidential, co-facilitated, collective support meeting for moms. this support group is specifically available to mothers diagnosed with bipolar disorder or those who think they may have bipolar disorder (also known as manic depression). Co-facilitated by Alison Brooks M.A., MFT intern

Meet The Doulas
Sunday May 18, 2008 4-6 pm
Meet the Doulas is an event cosponsored by Birth Network and Sutter Maternity and Surgery Center. Meet in the Sutter Room at 2900 Chanticleer Ave, Santa Cruz (at Sutter Maternity) to learn about services provided by birth doulas and postpartum doulas. You will have the opportunity to speak with individual doulas after the short presentation.

Birth doulas have been shown to reduce the need for pain relieving drugs and epidurals, lessen the incidence of cesarean sections, and help create an atmosphere that maximizes partner involvement and increases maternal satisfaction with the the birth.
